Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

The EU Cosmetic Directive 76/768/EEC will be replaced with the new EC Cosmetic Regulation 1233/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council on cosmetic products. The replacement will be mandatory for cosmetic companies from July 11th, 2013. From the cosmetics manufacturers, importers and distributors, the New Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 will require all cosmetic products on the EU market to be manufactured according to the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), which means that they are particularly safe and healthy.  

Cosmetic products should be manufactured according to the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and in compliance to the associated standards. Commission communication in the framework of the implementation of Regulation (EC) no. 1223/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council on cosmetic products has been published in the Official Journal of the EU, where the title and reference to the harmonized standard EN ISO 22716:2007, Cosmetics - Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) - Guidelines on Good Manufacturing Practice (ISO 22716:2007) were published for the first time.

 

What do you have to know about standard ISO 22716?

Standard ISO 22716:2007 is an internationally recognized standard that gives guidelines for the production, control, procedure documentation, storage and shipment of cosmetic products. It states general requirements for manufacturers of cosmetic final products in the production according to the equipment, production facilities, inputs, control of hygiene, production, hygiene requirements for personnel, laboratory control, labelling, monitoring of praises and complaints and product recalls.

Meeting the requirements of the standard enables the organization to obtain the certificate of ISO 22716 standard. With this certificate the organization proves the compliance with the requirements of ISO 22716 standard to their buyers, business partners and other interested parties, and therefore:
