CE marking – Rules on Measuring Instruments (MID - Measuring Instruments Directive 2004/22/EC)

The Rules on Measuring Instruments (Official Gazette of RS, no. 42/2006), transposing into Slovenian law Directive 2004/22/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 31 March 2004 on measuring instruments (MID) covering, among other instruments, also active electrical energy meters, came into force on 30 October 2006.

In the beginning of November 2006, SIQ was awarded the status of a notified body for active electrical energy meters – chapter MI-003 – according to Module H1, in particular on the basis of experiences and accreditations according to the requirements of ISO/IEC 17021 and EN 45012 standards. SIQ is, namely, one of the few institutions in the EU that are accredited according to the requirements of the ISO/IEC 17021 standard for active electrical energy meters.

SIQ is qualified to conduct conformity assessments of active electrical energy meters of all major manufacturers world-wide. The conformity assessment procedure according to Module H1 comprises a full review of a quality management system and a design examination of each active electrical energy meter.

Module H1 enables a manufacturer to examine the design of the product on its own but under the surveillance of a notified body, provided it has established a quality management system according to the ISO 9001:2008 standard and requirements of the WELMEC 8.6 guide, and has conducted all the testing required by the Rules on Measuring Instruments (Official Gazette of RS, no. 42/2006) and relevant harmonised standards.
