SIQ Offers Inspections for the “Made in Europe” Bonus Programme

07. October 2025

SIQ, as an authorised conformity assessment body, provides on-site inspections required for the “Made in Europe” Bonus Program, a grant initiative launched by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

About the “Made in Europe” Bonus Programme

The programme has been designed to strengthen European value creation by providing financial incentives to the manufacturers of PV components—such as photovoltaic modules, inverters, and energy storage systems—that perform the key stages of their production process within Europe.

  • Photovoltaic modules must undergo the module production, including inspection, glass/film application, string soldering, lamination, cabling, framing (unless frameless), and module testing.
  • The production process of inverters must cover printed circuit board assembly, final assembly, testing, and packaging.
  • Energy storage systems must include the assembly of battery modules with BMS consisting of the assembly of the hardware, including equipping, wiring, programming and embedding of battery cells, final assembly and final testing.

An on-site inspection is the required proof that these production steps indeed take place in Europe.

SIQ’s Role in Enabling the “Made in Europe” Certificate

As a recognised conformity assessment body, SIQ performs the mandatory on-site inspections and issues the corresponding certificates that qualify products for the bonus programme. This enables manufacturers to register their products with the EAG-Förderabwicklungsstelle, the official authority that maintains the whitelist of approved products. For more information, visit: EAG-Förderabwicklungsstelle – Made in Europe Bonus.

Why It Matters

  • Access to Financial Incentives: Manufacturers meeting the criteria are eligible for
additional funding under the subsidy programme.
  • Enhanced Visibility in Europe: Products can be officially listed as “Made in Europe”,
reinforcing trust in European manufacturing quality.
  • Support for the Energy Transition: Support the EU’s mission to promote sustainable, local
    production of renewable energy technologies.

If your company is involved in the European production of PV modules, inverters, or energy storage systems, consider partnering with SIQ to initiate the inspection process. This will maximise your access to the bonus programme and position your products for enhanced recognition and support.
