Independent safety assessment – ISA

ISA

An ISA is an objective evaluation, independent of the railway’s engineering design, development, or operational teams. It ensures that the safety requirements for the project are suitable for the intended application and that all systems and procedures meet those safety standards.

The role of the Independent Safety Assessor is to ensure that the relevant technical and operational risks have been sufficiently minimised to an acceptable level.

We provide:

  • Objective assessments and a fully impartial final decision based on the project’s safety justification.
  • Reduction project risk through an expert third-party review.
  • A service to properly address safety arguments and effective management of railway hazards and risks.
  • Reassurance for technical, commercial stakeholders, and regulatory bodies that the project is being handled with professionalism and meeting safety goals across its lifecycle.

Scope of services:

  • Railway system RAMS; EN 50126-1 and EN 50126-2.
  • Software railway control and protection according to EN 50128.
  • Safety-related communication according to EN 50129.
  • Rail software on-board according to EN 50657 and EN 50128.
